Kindroid Alternative: The Question Its Terms Never Answer

There is a particular kind of gap worth learning to spot in a document like this. Not a vague answer, but no answer at all, sitting next to answers that are exact. Kindroid's legal page is specific about storage, specific about deletion, specific about where you would have to go to argue with them. On whether your conversations are used to train the model, it says nothing.

Why silence is not a no

Two competitors state plainly that chat content goes into training. Nomi adds that the archives outlive account deletion and only the link to you is removed. CrushOn says the same with a claim of no user linkage. Both of those are commitments you can hold them to, and both can be measured against future behaviour.

An unstated position cannot be broken. It can also be adopted later without anyone amending anything. This is not a claim that Kindroid trains on your chats. We have no evidence of that and will not invent it. It is an observation that if it began tomorrow, no sentence in the document would need to change.

What the document is precise about

Chats are stored encrypted and remain until you delete the character or the whole account. Profile data lives as long as the account does, payment data as long as it is needed to process the subscription. Deleted material may persist in anonymised, aggregated form. The company states that personal data is neither sold nor shared, including for the previous twelve months, while contractors, analytics partners and payment providers do receive data.

The contract is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act, federal law and the law of Delaware, with binding arbitration in Los Angeles and class actions excluded. The operating entity is printed as BEAUTIFULLY INCORPORATED, at an address on Hollywood Boulevard with a unit number. A paid period cannot be terminated early and fees are not returned.

What it collects

Email, username and profile identifiers. Payment data and billing address. Device, IP and browser. Usage analytics. Demographic data, specifically age and gender. Location derived from IP. And the conversations themselves, stored encrypted.

Encryption at rest is a real answer to a real question, and more than most of this category offers. It is also worth being precise about what it does: it protects the stored text from someone who takes the disk. It says nothing about what the company itself may do with the same text, which brings us back to the sentence that is not in the document.

What is not allowed

The content rules are the most specific we have read in this category, and unusually they are worth reading rather than skipping: no copyright infringement, no CSAM, no promotion of self-harm, terrorism or violence, no exploitation of vulnerable people, no defamation or harassment. A company that writes that list is thinking about the problem rather than copying a template, which counts for something when you are deciding who to trust with eight weeks of conversation.
